Product Description
This dock enables an extra VGA graphics display, speakers/mic, and keyboard/mouse to be added to any PC via a USB cable. Use as a universal laptop docking station. Or use as a terminal station when connected via USB to a server running Fedora 17 Linux, Windows Multiseat Server 2011, or Userful Multiseat Linux 2011.

Connectivity and Technology

A single USB 2.0 cable between PC and dock carries all data and power (for easy USB dock/undock). Standard female VGA/D-Sub port from docking station to monitor drives modes up to 1280x1024 / 1440x900 on any monitor, using internal DisplayLink DL-125 chipset and Windows software drivers provided by DisplayLink. Open source drivers in Linux kernel. Not recommended for use on Mac, as only beta-level Mac OS X 10.4+ Intel 32/64-bit driver available via download, and Mac has lower performance and functionality than Windows for USB graphics. Standard 3.5mm audio in and out for stereo speakers and microphone.

Hardware Compatibility

Dual Core or 2Ghz CPU or better recommended. Requires main Intel, ATI, or nVidia GPU with WDDM and Aero support enabled in Windows (older GPUs like Matrox G200-based servers not supported). USB graphics devices with technology from different chipset vendors (MCT, SMSC, DisplayLink, etc.) should not be mixed on the same system.

Power

No AC adapter needed. Does not charge laptop. The dock's two free USB 2.0 ports have sufficient power only for connecting a USB keyboard and USB mouse (higher power peripherals like USB flash drives not supported).
